'Charlie's Angels' remake may fly at ABC
Hello, Angels. ABC is hoping to revive another television classic.ABC is close to ordering a pilot for the rebooot of "Charlie's Angels" from "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" showrunner Josh Friedman, reports Variety.
Besides Friedman's expertise at adapting a franchise for the screen, previous "Charlie's Angels" producers Leonard Goldberg, who was involved in the original 1976 Aaron Spelling show, and Drew Barrymore, who was involved with the more recent film adaptations, are on board.
ABC has had initial success with its reboot of the '80s sci fi miniseries "V," which pulled in good numbers for the premiere, but dropped a bit in the second week.
Of all the remakes that have been on the networks lately, this seems like a promising prospect. "The Bionic Woman" and "Knight Rider" both tanked, and "Melrose Place" is holding out to see if Heather Locklear guest starring during sweeps will make a difference. (Speaking of, have you seen her first scene?)
But you know, ass-kicking women on TV? Ass-kicking women with great hair?? That's always pure gold.
Your thoughts?

It will depend on how hot and jiggly the actresses are for it to succeed
I'm trying to remember, when was the last remake aside from 90210 that made it past the first season?
Well, I think, technically, The Office is a remake of the BBC version, but I see your point.
I don't understand why studios haven't figured this out. Same with movies. What is percentage of remakes that actually do well?
I don't want to watch the same shows my parents watched. I'll just buy the DVDs. I want NEW shows and movie that reflect MY generation.
Jaclyn Smith should be the new Bosley.
I can see this remake working..
Ugh, not my cup of tea, but have to say that Friedman's involvement has me slightly interested; I was a huge fan of Sarah Connor Chronicles.
I actually liked the remake of bionic Woman. Actors and story line were both good. I think the writers strike and it's high budget was what killed the show.
Well I do like the new V and I loved the remake of Battlestar Galactica. So if Charlie's angels could work if they used real imagination and not just retread old ideas it might work, but it will have to really bold (and if it is it will surely be cancelled - oh never mind)
they should just make it a continuation of the old show, so the old Angels can pop up every once in a while, the older angels all still look great ( no Farrah joke ment )
What a horrible idea.
Just rent the DVD's of the classic series and leave well enough alone.
Charlie's Angels was one of TV's biggest hits. One of the main reasons was the BEAUTIFUL Farrah Fawcett. Then of course Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson. Now last year (2010) they did a remake of the original show Hawaii 5-0 and it's the "monster" hit of the 2010-2011 season. I am positive that the (new) Charlie's Angels will be great with the new angels and with Robert Wagner as the voice of Charlie - but - let me go on record and say that there will NEVER, let me repeat that NEVER, be another Farrah Fawcett. I will watch the show but in the back of my mind I will always be thinking of Farrah.
