'American Idol': Listen to Allison Iraheta's 'Just Like You'
Allison Iraheta was the designated rocker girl on "American Idol" last season, but her album "Just Like You" reminds us of a more pop-minded past "Idol" contestant: Kelly Clarkson. The 13 tracks on "Just Like You" -- which are streaming on MySpace Music and IdolBlogLive -- are a collection of radio-ready pop songs with a slight edge provided by Iraheta's pleasingly raspy voice. She doesn't have the sheer power or range of Clarkson, but none of these tunes would sound out of place on a Clarkson record (no surprise there -- one of the producers Iraheta worked with, Max Martin, has also collaborated with Clarkson).
It's a nice first effort for the 17-year-old, whose album goes on sale Tuesday (Dec. 1), a week after records from her fellow "Idol" season eight contestants Kris Allen and Adam Lambert hit stores. The first single, "Friday I'll Be Over U," is already out.
What do you think of "Just Like You"? Is it for you?

NO thank you. I already have Kelly and Shakira's new album, no need to listen or buy thins things album! She has a bad voice and is FUGLY! LOL
I'm loving what I'm hearing here. There's a little bit of everything for everyone but the voice is featured front and center, as it should be.
Definitely for me. I don't think they're all pop songs. They all definitely have that rock edge to them. Some actually have more rock than anything else (see Holiday, D is for Dangerous, etc.) Some are ballads (see Trouble Is and Scars). I think her album really shows just who she is as an artist and that's really quite refreshing in a world of Miley filled songs. I think she does have the range that Clarkson posses and definitely has more power and passion in her voice. And compared to P!nk (I love P!nk and Clarkson no disrespect to them at ALL), Randy Jackson even went as far to say Allison's like P!nk but with 9,000 ore octaves. Have you heard Trouble Is? I didn't even think Allison could go so high..but she does..and she kills it (obviously in the good way).
To MEOW. Wow..grow up would you? We get it. You don't like Allison. But to say she has a bad voice and is fugly? That's absurd. That's stupid. Incredibly stupid. If she had a bad voice she wouldn't even had made it to top 4, much less get a recording contract with a major record label. But what the hell do I know? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I for one think she's beautiful. Not only does she have natural beauty..but she doesn't try to be something that she's not. She knows she's young and she'll dress like it. Allison doesn't try to look older..yes she sounds older but she doesn't try to look it. Another whiff of fresh air from the Disney princesses (Miley, Selena, Demi, etc.).
WTF are you talking about? This article reads like it came out of your @$$. HAVE YOU LISTENED TO THE ALBUM?
There are more rock songs there than KC will ever release in her life...N the voice doesn't remind much of KC (who doesn't even measure up btw), but more of Pink. Get It Right...U sound like an amateur writer !
This girl is a ROCK GODDESS!!!
hum, rubin and taylor won and they are over now. Miss 3rd place LOSER who is too f-ing ugly will be gone too. Shakira wanna be LOSER!
I've listening the entire album and to tell the truth is really....Amazing! Very refreshing to hear a new artist blow out of the water more seasoned artist. The album is pop/rock with a bluesy edge. Loving it!
This girl is Pink, not Kelly. I know that AI has been trying for years to find a Kelly Clarkson(so much for originality). Allison is a young Pink. She is good for her age though. I'm not interested in buying this.
You can't blame some of the kids here to hate the review (that I absolutely agree with), because, lets face it, the producers had them in mind, and they're at an age where confuse "Rock" with "Pop".
Truth is, for us older guys, we been spoiled by the Hendrix's, Led Zepplin, and basically the '70's rock that shaped much or the world since. And, if you're like me, Allison Iraheta blew our minds with her voice! So of course, we can regret that the first CD sounds like everything out there today, instead of a more "to-the-roots" rock, like Janis Joplin, or the more recent Joan Jett.
I would have loved for them to base the first album on her voice rather than her age.
For my taste, this is at best an okay bubblegum pop/rock album.
I'll pass -- hoping that Allison gets angry and gets the rock & roll spirit for her next album.
In the meantime, the kids will eat this up!
P!nk... This Shakira monster looking thing wishes she was P!nk.
Loved--loved--loved Allison on AI and will definitely be buying her CD. I am a 51 yo MWF--love Pink also--the great thing about music is that you like what touches you.
