'24' brings back Gregory Itzin, offers some season 8 details
It looks like former President Charles Logan has recovered from being stabbed.FOX says Gregory Itzin will reprise his role as the oily ex-commander in chief on "24" this season. The current president (Cherry Jones) will reluctantly ask for help from Logan -- last seen taking a knife from his wife in season six -- with the latest international crisis that drives the season.
"The opportunity for these two remarkable actors to share the stage was simply too compelling to pass up," executive producer Howard Gordon says.
The network has also offered up the broad outlines of what's going to happen in the new season, which is scheduled to begin Sunday, Jan. 17 and move to its regular Monday-night home the following night. The action will be driven by a plot to assassinate a Middle Eastern leader (Anil Kapoor, "Slumdog Millionaire") who's speaking at the United Nations, and retired grandfather Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is drawn back into the reconstituted CTU, because that's what he does.
Annie Wersching and Mary Lynn Rajskub will return as Renee Walker and Chloe O'Brian; Katee Sackhoff, Mykelti Williamson and Freddie Prinze Jr. will also play CTU agents. In addition to Itzin, Stephen Root and David Anders will have guest arcs this season.

While Itzin coming back to the show is certainly awesome news... his character surviving the stabbing isn't. In Season 7 there was some dialog that finally cleared up what happened to his character, specifically mentioning he was under house arrest. Just throwing that out there...
Far and away its best cast. Ever. Itzin and Anders are two world-class baddies. Really enjoyed Wersching's work last season. And Sackhoff is just solid gold.
I'm sure we'll be hearing from Rena any second now ("Katie Sackhoff is, at best, a third-rate actress who helped make Battlestar Galactica into the less-than-stellar production it was, and the ratings proved that," and so on and so forth, blah-de-blah-blah-blah), but I too am looking forward to seeing her on 24. Glad that both Renee and Chloe are back again, although I'm still not loving the idea of Logan reappearing, even on the side of the good guys. There's a little too much side-switching on this show. There are 300+ million people in the United States. Surely, one of THEM has the same mad skills that Logan probably has.
Other than that, can't wait for the new season to start!
I still hold out hope that Sherry Palmer will return one day. We saw her get shot, much as we saw President Logan get stabbed, but we never actually got confirmation that she was dead.
On the other hand, maybe we'll get a brief appearance from Martha Logan. The first ladies on 24 are always my favorite characters. Well, the first ladies and Chloe. Chloe's the best!
Hello? I died! I got my *** shot, then I was lying there, unmoving, with no one trying to save my dead ***, for over an hour. Logan, on the other hand, got stabbed in not fatal areas, then was last seen IN AN AMBULANCE, VERY ALIVE!
Finally, I'm tired that in every season there's always a character of the series in mortal danger or about to be killed and we never know what happen to him. Finally cleared about him, I hope some day can we know what happen to Rick, Behrooz, the woman who was with President Logan's wife Martha and her daughter and obviously Tony.
Wasn't Rick on his way to jail? Behrooz I've always thought was dead, likewise the woman and child with Martha. Tony's alive - for now.
