'2012' snapped up by FX

2012_johncusack_04_290.jpgThe film "2012" gives visions of doom, but its future looks rosy on cable.

FX obtained the rights to Roland Emmerich's movie, which made $65 million at the domestic box office this past weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"2012" will air at the beginning of that same year. The network also nabbed the rights to the Sony horror comedy "Zombieland."

There's no update on if the "2012"-inspired TV series is closer to becoming a reality.
