'V' first look: Watch the opening act
The 21st-century version of "V" lands in a little more than a week, and to tide us over until Nov. 3 ABC has released the first eight minutes of the premiere. We said back in September that "V" -- which will air its first four episodes in November, then return in the spring -- is at the top of our must-see list for fall, and the opening of the show gives you a little idea as to why. Yes, it partly has to do with fond memories of the 1983-84 miniseries, but the update is also very well-done and features a pretty strong cast led by Elizabeth Mitchell.
The opening act does a pretty efficient job of sketching in who the major players are going to be -- Mitchell's FBI agent, Logan Huffman as her son, Scott Wolf as an ambitious newscaster, Morris Chestnut as a guy about to propose to his girlfriend (Lourdes Benedicto) and Joel Gretsch as a priest. You'll also see a brief glimpse of Morena Baccarin as the leader of the Visitors. It's also pretty well-produced; the scope of the production is a notch or two above everyday TV fare.
Have a look for yourself.

Yep, I'll check out V. I remember watching the original V when I was a kid. Look forward to seeing this new version.
I hope that is not the theme song there at the end. Bring on an update of the 80's music!
Oh my goodness!!! I am excited! This looks badass!!!
I remember the 80s version of the mini-series and it wasn't very good. I hope this new version is completely different.
WOW, after watching that, im ready for a nap, soooo lame and boring. No wonder ABC is only planning 4 episodes and then pulling it till after the olympics.
Do us a favor MEOW. Make it a permanent nap. And take Rena with you.
MEOW is an idiot...this looks like a big HIT for ABC. If the writing is as good as the production value...this will be the show to watch!
Hmm, I always have a problem watching and show with Scott Wolf in it. He's just not believable as an adult...he still looks like he did in Party of Five!! Oh well, I'll give it a watch anyhow since I loved the original "V", but then I always thought Marc Singer was cute (back then) and loved Jane Bader as the 'visitor'. Joel Gretsch playing a priest? This will be interesting to see especially after his character in the 4400 for four years!
Whatever Jenna thatw as written by some loser pretending to be me, already have V on my DVR ;-)
