Twitter'Ugly Betty' will lose her braces, confirms Ana Ortiz
It's official: Betty Suarez will lose her signature metal-laden smile soon."Ugly Betty's" Ana Ortiz, who guest co-hosted on "The View" Thursday, confirmed rumors that Betty (America Ferrera) will lose her braces.
"They are coming off this season," said Ortiz. "Even in the first episode -- it's a two-hour episode, it's brilliant -- she starts to make the transition. It's really exciting."
Ortiz, who plays Betty's older sister Hilda on the show, noted that the makeover won't be popular with everybody since the topic has already caused "controversy" on the "Ugly Betty" blogs.
"In the original 'Betty la fea' [the telenovela on which 'Ugly Betty' is based], they tried to make her pretty, and the country went bananas," she observed.
Ortiz wanted to reassure fans though.
"We are not going to turn her into a supermodel. She is Betty and she will always be Betty, but she's going to evolve."
Ortiz, who recently gave birth to her first child, Paloma in June, was in the Bahamas, shooting with the rest of the "Ugly Betty" cast. She flew back for her appearance on "The View."
"Ugly Betty" returns with a two-hour season premiere on Friday, Oct. 16.

We pretty much know this show will be canceled sometime this season due to its death crash int he ratings so why not allow her to transfor it becomes history.

I don't think it really matters now. The original was this ugly girl who did not get any man and this guy fell in love with her bacause of her inter bauty. On this US version, she has had like 4 man already! Why whould that matter now anyways?
I look forward to seeing her without the braces. I feel like she has evolved so much already that it is about time.
I predict that Betty will get a makeover that will happen over time and that she will eventually end up with her former boss Daniel. They seem to have a real connection and are developing a real relationship based on their friendship first. But of course that means that the series will end because there will be nowhere to go from there!
