'Ugly Betty': Season premiere makeover postponed a week
"Ugly Betty"'s getting a beauty makeover. But not until October 16th.The fourth season of the ABC series was originally scheduled to debut a week earlier on October 9th, however the network has announced they're pushing the two-hour premiere back a bit.
There's been no explanation as to why. The screener of said two-hour was made available to TV critics last week, so it's probably not a production issue.
But anyway, when the show does return, we'll of course see a new and improved B. Suarez in an elevated position as associate features editor. The only problem? Her boss is her ex-boyfriend, her officemate -- played by Smith Cho -- kind of hates her and Marc (Michael Urie) is super annoyed that she got the job over him.
Ahh, life at Mode.

So does this mean we get the Flash Forward repeat one more week???
Thursday is so crowded with competition that ABC reairs Flash Forward the very next night; did it on Sept 25th for the pilot/premiere and again tonight for episode 2 (Oct 2).
I am thinking ABC wants to see how their comedy Wednesday does for a few more weeks. I can tell them now that they need to just cancel Hank now and put Ugly Betty on Wednesday nights at 8 and then show 2 of the 3 remaining sitcoms at 9 followed by Eastwick at 10. The other sitcom should get the 8pm time slot on Friday night followed by another comedy, preferably Samantha Who? which I think unfortunately was killed last year, but we can always hope it can be revived!
Why cancel Hank? It got 8.5 million. Ugly Betty is lucky to get 5 million and is only going to decline further. For the life of me I do not know what people see in that show.
I'm so excited about the return of Ugly Betty...it may not be the very best show on TV, but in my opinion - it is THE MOST enjoyable and most entertaining.
It's amazing anyone can find any of these shows since they keep changing their minds about where to put them on the schedule.
I really like Ugly Betty. It's one of the few shows on right now that I really care if I see. (And I tape a LOT of shows.)
Yeah.... even though its postponed, I am glad Betty is coming back. Like Eric from Atlanta mentioned, not the best but certainly one of the most enjoyable. Rarely a dull moment. Gr8 show, ABC don't let it die please!!!
Thursday is my worst night of tv because everything I like is on at the same time. I have to watch Grey's Anatomy on my small bedroom tv while my dvr is recording Fringe and Supernatural. I have been watching Flash Forward on Fridays too and am glad when it is repeated. I don't know what I'll do when Ugly Betty comes back. One of these shows has got to go.
Susan, I don't think that you've grasped that "FlashForward" is not getting a mere tryout on Thursdays. It is the new occupant of ABC 8:00 Thursday. "Ugly Betty" will air at 8:00 on Fridays, where I assume you find less compelling competition.
Tess, ABC is moving "Ugly Betty" after three seasons in the same timeslot, and that was announced in May. If that is too much change for you to keep up with, then I cannot fathom how you "tape a LOT of shows," unless you're not too particular about which programs you get.
TD, promoting the Wednesday comedy block has been ABC's top priority this fall. They are not about to tear it apart. That won't even be a consideration until at least Thanksgiving. And "Samantha Who?" has the same likelihood of returning to ABC air as "Happy Days." You should have asked for "Scrubs" or "Better Off Ted."
Hank is a good show. It is real, no boobs exploding from skimpy tops, no violence, very little reference to sex. Just what I have wanted to see on TV. Need more shows like this. And Kelsey Grammar is terrific.
Eric in Atlanta, that's a great way to put it. I wish more people would express themselves like you. :)
I agree with Bobby that Betty has outlived its short ratings usefulness a long time ago and is one more show that weighs down schedules and prevents new shows from being tried out (and Lord knows more new shows are needed at ABC given their lack of acumen in picking them! ;)
