GLEE!!
I actually enjoy Eastwick, but I wouldn't say it's exactly setting the country on fire.
I do think this excess of praise has had very bad consequences in real life with more and more timeslots being abandoned for lack of resources stemming from too many poorly performing shows being kept on as long as they garner good press.
CBS and ABC are the only two real networks left standing at this point (and with Saturdays not being programmed I may be a little lenient) and I'd very much like ABC to remain a real network.
Praising a bad development season, while it may get journalists an invite to the Xmas party and keep those executives on the payroll another year doesn't do the long-term health of the company any favors.
Why do company boards rely more on press clippings than actual numbers, one may ask..?
I agree it doesn't make any sense, but clearly that's what's been going on at NBC, FOX, CW and to a lesser degree at ABC and CBS and the result has been few interesting shows for all and more unemployment in the film business.
I enjoyed the Monsters vs Aliens special last night. I also enjoyed Cougar Town too.
As I have said before, Street Teamers I want what I post to be about the meat of the topic, not about me.
My only claim to fame is to have followed ratings for a long time. Everything I know you can know too by following the numbers and analyzing them.
I hope you'll want to do that and enjoy it. :)
Amazing that half the messages on this board seem to be from someone re-posting old posts of mine.
For the record, all the posts prior to this one weren't posted by me at all.
I still fail to see what point is served by that...
In any case...
@Rick, congrats once more for not carrying water for the networks. Wednesday is in very poor shape for all the networks (slightly less so for CBS).
ABC was very right to target that night for a takeover. Sadly, their choice of shows proved to be rather poor and uninspired and they have not gotten any success on the night.
Rena - please leave the analysis to the professionals. Happy to see that Eastwick beat Leno. Loving baseball in primetime - hoping it goes to a Game 7.
I actually enjoyed Eastwick last night it was the first episode I've watched, my fried told me it was good. I think Eastwick might benefit from word of mouth unlike Modern Family which had "Al Bundy" and Cougar Town has Courtney Cox. I wonder if ABC would keep it and move it to Friday nights since Ugly Betty doesn't seem to be doing very well over there.
@Gollywood... Actually after doing more research my analysis shows that the flop The Jay Leno Show had a (3.9/ 6). The one bit of positive news for Leno was out delivering ABC’s competing Eastwick (#4: 3.3/ 5) by 18 percent (which is still not saying much).
So please leave the analysis and the critical thinking to ones who are capable of it.
Rena - again, no analysis by me - I am simply looking at the numbers provided by Zap2it and commenting. You couldn't analyze or critically think your way out of a paper bag; epecially if you think there was any analysis on my part. You are just another fool on this board.
Jay Leno will beat all ABC shows (except Castle)when they go to reruns,so i dont think NBC is too worried yet.
