TV ratings: 'Three Rivers' flows to OK premiere; NFL wins Sunday
Fast National ratings for Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009The premiere of "Three Rivers" on CBS Sunday drew a decent-sized overall audience but not too many younger viewers, while NFL games boosted both NBC and FOX.
NBC won a tight ratings race for the night with 13.1 million viewers and a 7.8 rating/12 share in households. ABC, FOX and CBS all finished within a 600,000 viewers of one another, with ABC (11.3 million, 6.9/11) taking second, followed by FOX (10.71 million, 6.1/10) and CBS (10.69 million, 6.7/11). Well, CBS's new Three Rivers is off to a discouraging, but not unexpectedly so, start. It's unlikely it'll recover from a 5.7 and more likely that rating will get worse next week, after which CBS will end up cancelling it and maybe move Cold Case back down to 9, while filling in 10 with crime repeats for the time being. Why did they even bother with this obvious loser of a show in the first place? Meanwhile, everything else on the night looked more or less the norm.
Well , I was not going to watch Three Rivers because I love Desperate H. But because the show got so bad reviews I got curious, and decided to give the show a shot.I guess I wanted to prove the reviews to be wrong.OK, the reviews were right, it was absolutely boring,I didn't like the chemistry cast or the story. I stayed for all the show, althouh I lost focus in the story 3 or 4 times.LOL.I won't be back next week. It's a stinker for sure!
I thought Three Rivers was awesome. It provided us a glimpse of what happens when someone chooses the gift of life with organ transplants. the stories were very compelling and I was impressed with the entire cast. Much better than Cold Case. I will watch this show again. Hopefully it will get a chance.
I disagree with Tina and Edell. I thought Three Rivers was great and well written. I like the use of technology and the multi screens when they're going to break. I hope its ratings improve so that it can stick around for while despite its ratings are not that bad.
I personally loved it...ive been looking for all summer...alex is amazing...i would prefer to still be watching him as a vampire but i will take what i can get...i hope this show makes it...
Edell, once again well said. :)
As some of you know, I think Alex O'Loughlin is one of the reasons why this show won't do so well. However, he wasn't served by the shot-on-video look which made the show look like a soap opera.
CBS must be disappointed (in spite of agitating for "decent sized" mentions - I'm sure the trades will call it another "strong opening"! ;) ) given that they had bought into the false idea that O'Loughlin was a big draw (which of all people they should know is not true).
The Simpsons grew from last week, but that may be ascribed to a stronger lead-in more than anything else.
With Desperate Housewives ebbing, there are no true hits on Sundays any longer but nobody seems poised to take advantage.
Tell me again why CBS cancelled "Without A Trace"???
Wow! Family Guy beat Three Rivers, Brothers & Sisters and The Simpsons!
Hey I also enjoyed Three Rivers, I thought it was well written, great acting by the way. Love Alex O’Loughlin and I really hope they give them a chance to stay :)
true.....they could have kept without a trace for sundays..or even shark.....
