TV ratings: 'NCIS: LA' cools, CBS still rules Tuesday
Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009The audience for "NCIS: Los Angeles" fell off a little bit Tuesday, which allowed "The Biggest Loser" to move ahead of it in the adults 18-49 demographic. In total viewers, though, it and the rest of CBS' lineup still dominated the night.
CBS averaged about 16.5 million viewers and a 10.4 rating/17 share for the night, nearly doubling the viewer total for second-place ABC (8.3 million, 5.6/9). NBC (8.1 million, 5.0/8) came in third. FOX was fourth with 6.4 million viewers and a 3.7/6, and The CW, per usual, was back of the pack with 1.9 million viewers and a 1.4/2.
CBS also led the 18-49 demo with a 3.6 rating, holding off NBC's 3.1. FOX, 2.8, took third in the demographic advertisers love, followed by ABC at 2.0 and The CW at 1.0.

I really like the forgotten...and last night was the best of the three episodes so far
NCIS & NCIS LA are horrible shows. Those shows including the CSI franchise are all the same. How boring! Why is it that cable only airs smart shows were you actually have to think?
I luv luv luv NCIS! They are on fire this season. Awesome ratings! I'm still trying to warm up to NCIS:LA.
Seems that all the shows are already falling into a predictable pattern for Tuesday. The only one to note as an aberration of sorts is Dancing with the Stars having slipped below an 8 rating. I can't remember the last time, if ever, that it had an 8 rating.
I tried to watch NCIS one time. It's like a Matlock update. Horrible, lowest-common-denominator television.
Edell, your post is so short today. What's wrong? It's ok, I'm sure Rita will be here soon with her daily 2,000 word post analyzing the day to day state of network television. Explaining how all shows should be canceled and all network employees should be fired along with most people in the media, who are obviously just *****s for the networks that endlessly spew inflated hype for their worthless shows. Everthings a bomb, the networks are a disaster, it's all a conspiracy........ oh the horror
NCIS and boring! yeah right! wat is a good show according to u then.....do u think those 20 million viewers are just stupid to watch it week after week
Flipping out is a great show. So is Sons of Anarchy.
NCIS LA is dipping which is consistent with the lukewarm comments we're read from fans of the original. I'm surprised that The Good wife isn't dipping more in response. This may be good news for CBS.
The DWTS result show dipped, but this is consistent with the downward trajectory of the show now that the novelty is wearing off. Still this is bad news for ABC since they haven't found a hit this season (Shark Tank and The Forgotten being great examples).
NBC is trying to spin Biggest Loser as a big hit, but it fails to get 10 million viewers, which means it not much to brag about. Of course, at this point NBC will brag about anything that beats Leno. ;)
And while it will make the street teamers very, very angry, CW was its usual non-entity and since Dawn Ostroff has nothing in the wings to replace her slate of bombs (why that is, I can't understand because it's not like the failure of Gossip Girl and its clones is a surprise) CW will remain mire in free ratings fall while Ms. Ostroff makes her best impersonation of Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove. :)
