TV ratings: 'Dancing' wins Monday; FOX gets a slight baseball bump
Fast National ratings for Monday, Oct. 19, 2009Extra innings in the American League Championship Series gave FOX a small boost in Monday's ratings, but ABC ended the night on top thanks to "Dancing with the Stars."
"The Big Bang Theory," meanwhile, pulled down some strong demo numbers.
The Alphabet brought in 14.3 million viewers and a 9.5 rating/15 share in households to take the night's top spot. CBS (11.6 million, 7.3/11) came in second, a little ahead of FOX (11.3 million, 6.7/10), whose numbers will change in final nationals because of the ALCS game running into primetime in much of the country. NBC (5.3 million, 3.4/5) was fourth, and The CW finished last with 2.1 million viewers and a 1.5/2.
FOX won the adults 18-49 demographic with a 4.2 rating, topping CBS' 4.0. ABC finished third in the advertisers' favorite demo with a 3.2, followed by NBC, 1.9, and The CW, 1.0.

One Tree Hill is the little show that could. It has been moved around so many times, been on for seven years and still stays strong. It beats out Gossip Girl pretty much every week. I love it.
OMG, I love Castle. I am glad it's growing. I hate CSI Miami now. Too soap opera for me. They ruined that show that used to great until the last few seasons. I am hoping Castle contiues it's great writing. I still watch the original CSI and even though it's been around for a long time it's still up there in the top 5. That's not bad for a long running show. Miami just needs to go away.
I am tuning out to CSI Miami and tuning in to Castle. Miami is below the top 10 and I can see why-ANNOYING. For those Miami fans, no offense just saying what I like here. I think the writer's of Miami lost their mojo since season 4. I also love Dexter-great writing also.
Fox's ratings for the night is extremely messed up because of the baseball overrun. So basically this will mess up one whole week of tabulating ratings!
I have never posted here but I have to admit I have to say something about Miami. I am so sick and tired of it. I started to watch Castle in it's place and now I am slowly becoming a fan. I have to agree with the other poster (sorry forgot the name) but Miami is just to soap opera. Nothing like the first seasons which made it fresh.
Last night Miami was total bullcrap
ABC won the night. That's all there is to it.
18-49 doesn't even bring in more ad money, so why have it be more than a foot note? (although it's amusing to see CBS getting that pseudo-distinction this time).
Overall, audience levels are petering out.
Back to ratings, NBC was a non-entity with Leno delivering the bad ratings everyone but NBC believed it would and Heroes showing that it was dead ratings-wise several years ago while Trauma is yet another bomb.
at ABC DWTS continues to "dominate" through lack of competition as CBS has clearly let its line-up age to the point of collapse and neither Accidentally on purpose nor Big Bang Theory are going to help revive it.
ABC's CASTLE continues to be a time-slot "hit".
CW continues to try and make NBC look less bad as Gossip Girl, the show that every new show on CW is modeled after is the lowest-rated show of the night, while on FOX, Lie To Me continues to squander House's diminishing lead-in.
Overall, a very sad night for the networks as their real hits keep sliding and they have nothing new coming in to shore up the ratings.
Of course, we'll read that this was unavoidable and the result of societal trends, but really, who at CBS thought that CSI Miami would get better ratings if it was shot on video and looked like a soap? Who at CW doesn't realize Gossip Girl is a bomb?
Those blows are all self-inflicted.
Dgh, obviously a street teamer is trying to be a bully on the boards, but it will not work :)
These ratings are only overnight/estimates. Does anyone know if their is a site that posts final numbers for all programming? Somewhere where you could actually see a full ranking list of all the week's shows? I'm just curious.
Castle is the worst show on TV, no wonder the rating are droping for that show.
