"CSI" widened its total-viewer lead over "Grey's Anatomy" Thursday, leading CBS to an overall ratings victory for the night. "Grey's" still ruled the demographic race, though. Elsewhere, the season premiere of "30 Rock" pulled in underwhelming numbers for NBC.

CBS averaged 13.8 million viewers and an 8.6 rating/14 share in households for the night, beating out ABC's 11.1 million and 7.1/12. FOX (7.5 million, 4.7/7) came in third. NBC drew 5.8 million viewers and a 3.6/6 to take fourth, and The CW (3.2 million, 2.0/3) trailed.

The top two spots were reversed in the adults 18-49 demographic, with ABC's 4.0 topping CBS' 3.5. FOX and NBC tied for third at 2.4. The CW scored a 1.5.

What a drop for Survivor and CSI vs last year, and people are picking Private Practice over the Machinist. The younger audience is for sure, good for PP for always getting the younger skewered audience vs the Machinist. FlashForward is setting well and it looks like people are getting tired of boring reality type programs. Its like ok, I rather watch couple Retread over a bunch of grown people trapped on a island, Losers, the survivor cast. And the veterinarian hit Grey Antomy is sure beating CSI esp in the advertiser friendly 18 to 49 yo demographics. Hope FOX cancels Fridge is so sad, it can even hold Bones’s audience and no one really watches Bones, why watch Bones when CASTLE is a much better show with a better cast and writing.

More MEOW crap.

The Machinist????

Veterinarian hit????

Cody, your childish behavior is getting old. Will be back later with my detailed analysis of the ratings.

Castle isn't even on Thursdays... and Bones had the same rating as FlashForward

Everything appears to be stabilizing to the kind of numbers we can expect to continue to see from all of Thursday's shows for the next month or so, till they all go into repeats after the sweeps. Of note is the usual pattern beginning to emerge of CSI overtaking Grey's Anatomy several weeks into the season. Seems to me just about all the night's shows will hang in till the end of the season, though I think NBC might be tempted to tinker with its 8 pm hour and FOX at 9 might end up moving Fringe to another night in January.

Don't hurry back Rena your "detailed analysis" won't be missed!!!

I would say that was MEOW pretending to be Rena. But all the words are spelled correctly, so I am not sure.

Well said, dgh! Take your time, Rena. Surely you have a network to run or a thesis paper to write.
