TV Ratings: CBS' psychics, FOX's baseball a hit on Friday
Fast National ratings for Friday, Oct. 16, 2009CBS' Friday night win in the ratings looks very similar to the previous week's, but got some competition from Game 1 of the baseball playoffs between the Angels and the Yankees on FOX. As expected, the two-hour premiere of "Ugly Betty" on ABC improved on the previous week's reruns of "FlashForward" and comedies, bringing the network an okay third-place finish for the night.
CBS averaged 8 million viewers and an 5.1 rating/9 share in households. FOX took second with 7.4 million viewers and a 4.6/8 share, while NBC (6.1 million, 4.1/7) took third. ABC's 5.7 million and 3.9/7 was good for fourth, and The CW took up last position (2 million, 1.3/2).
FOX took the demo title home, however, grabbing a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49. CBS was second with a 2.0, followed by ABC, 1.6, NBC, 1.4, and The CW at 0.8.

Please stop telling me about the stats. From what I can seen, there are more people watching "Ghost Whisperer, Medium and Numbers" than baseball!
ugly betty sure did well in its season debut hehehehe
The 8 pm hour seems to have gotten a bit of a collective viewership bump, adding nearly 4.0 rating points to the total over last week thanks to baseball and the season premiere of Ugly Betty. The night overall, however, continues to be a noticeably weaker one for CBS this fall with its Ghost-Medium-Numbers trio, so one can only suspect that the network might want to freshen it up a bit later in the season and possibly give it a complete facelift next season. NBC is seeing a steady inching upwards of its Law & Order as that show looks to crack the 5.0 rating mark. It seems we can expect to see Jay Leno average around a 3.5 each week, which is about a half rating point better than I thought it would average. And, of course, it was expected that Ugly Betty would take a hit on Friday, but the jury is out for now as to whether it'll be uphill or downhill from the 3.5 it got last night, or just plain steady.
Here we go again with EDell/Rena Moretti. Can't we just enjoy our shows?
"Here we go again with EDell/Rena Moretti. Can't we just enjoy our shows?" - the so-called Waxine
Sure you can. Just watch them and stop wasting time reading this board if you're so unhappy with it. Life's too short.
EDell isn't bad. He actually analyzes these numbers and puts them into perspective as well as bringing in other information that isn't available right here. He's plenty okay. Rena on the other hand... well, she has issues...
So-called? And we know what E D stands for, right? After all, we're all watching lots of TV.
I'm really glad "Law & Order" is getting higher ratings every week. And the show is also within 1.5 million viewers of SVU every week...so maybe we can get a 21st season
Nice to see Brian Dunkleman working again now that he's got that gig playing Melinda Gordon's son on Ghost Whisperer.
hey Waxine! EFF YOU!
You're the annoying one, NOT Rena and EDell.
