Very interesting that The Mentalist got better re-run ratings than CSI. This bides well for my prediction that The Mentalist will end up as Thursday's #1 show.
NBC's Thursday is still a desolate area, while ABC will claim that Flash Forward is a "hit", but it still couldn't manage to break the 10 million plateau even with the relatively weak opposition (then again these days almost every hour has "relatively weak" opposition).
If there was a day to call a statistical tie, his would be it, but I'm sure ABC will appreciate being called winners, even if the data really underlines that even their Thursday, that they once spruced up by moving Gray's Anatomy there, is still quite weak and only looks good thanks to NBC and CW's self immolation on that day.
Thats funny The Mentalist was a rerun and it still beat PP that doesnt bode well for ABC ,people are tired of bad medical shows .
Would anyone even watch Private Practice if it didn't have Grey's for a lead in?
@Barry, people are tired of bad shows, period. I know I am.
I actually don't mind that bad shows are made, because the process of making good shows is fraught with trial and error. I do mind the recent policy of the networks to keep their failed shows on forever so as to try and appear successful, in lieu of taking more "at bats" which would allow them to find more hits.
When your strategy is focused on PR and getting good press (as it apparently is from where I sit), it becomes very hard to be genuinely successful.
@Cody, you made an excellent point. Programming Private Practice on that timeslot is "good programming" in that it provides a compatible follow-up to Gray's, but PP's results are far from great (compare for instance with The Mentalist sometimes beating NCIS last year) and ABC may want to try a little more actively to find something better.
Then again, ABC seems to have lost its touch as its ambitious (and I do give them full credit for that) all-new Wednesday has turned out only shows rating under 10 million live+SD viewers.
Thank you for the compliment Codey. :)
What is very sad about the way zap2it is letting this board turn into nothing is that by not moderating the constant attacks and flames, they have essentially told most of the interesting contributors that they are not welcome (and all under the pretense that they are treating us "like adults").
It's really very sad.
Persoanlly, I won't leave this board, because I am too well aware that the goal of some of the people posting insults is to squelch information that does not meet with the approval of their employers (in the case of street teamers) or of what they perceive is the interest of whichever show or producer they are fans of (in the case of "trufans").
Whichever way it is, I see that as an attack on free speech (yes zxap2it, free speech is not the freedom to flame and insult people to squelch opinions you don't like) and I just won't let that happen.
Others care less, and that's how, sadly we seem to have lost 90% of the good contributors to this board.
Congratulations zap2it... unless it's not what's you wanted, in which case, do something about it...
People are not getting tired of medical shows. I still very much enjoy "Grey's Anatomy," but they need to seriously cancel the merger with Mercy West, especially after the patient died last night because the doctors won't work together. I am tired of CBS and all of their CSIs, NCISs, and other boring crime shows!
I dont mind if bad shows are made also ,i was a fan of the dukes of hazard and manimal lol
@all, as you can surmise, the post at "Rena Moretti | October 23, 2009 9:20 AM" ending in "of their network or show. :(" is not mine (which is easy to cull as it is mostly a copy and paste of an old post out of context).
I wanted to congratulate once again zap2it for its resounding success in appealing to people's sense of respect for others and of being "adults" (of course assuming all posters here are above 18 is quite a lot to assume isn't it?)
In any case, this is my last post on this thread for today. See you tomorrow, and remember not to be fooled by the PR spin. ;)
The only people watching PP are the ones who fall asleep while watching the morbid Greys Anatomy and forget to turn off their TVs
Hahaha CBS reruns nearly beat our ABC first runs. NBC as usualy just plain s*cks. Why is that Parks show still on. Its the worst
