chuck_290.jpgQuestion: NBC.com says "Chuck" will be airing "Thursdays 7/8C." For real?

Answer: No -- at least not at the moment. NBC says the information posted on its web site Monday (screenshot below) is a mistake and will be fixed in short order.

As things stand now, "Chuck" is still slated to return to its familiar 8 p.m. Monday timeslot in March, following NBC's Winter Olympics coverage. As some of NBC's new shows have struggled this fall, there has been speculation that the series would be back sooner than that, but the network is sticking to its midseason plan. (The "Next on" box to the right of the page does say the show will be back in March 2010.)

Part of what's been fueling the chatter is the fact that "Chuck" has been in production for a while and would have several episodes ready to go if NBC asked for it before the scheduled premiere. But as Joe Adalian of The Wrap points out, bringing the show back early would also mean not having much time to market the show. It would also deplete the network's midseason roster.

Those are the real-world considerations. As for the "7/8C" part, that's just a mistake. Network shows air at 8 Eastern time, 7 Central, not the other way around.

Here's the erroneous information, as posted on NBC.com Monday morning.

Bring back CHUCK early and give it a full season.

hope not, it should be ugly betty on thursdays!

Yeah, it would only "deplete the midseason roster" if NBC fails to give Chuck the back nine episodes - which they will most likely order if they bring it back early...as opposed to letting one of their best shows (and certainly more profitable than Trauma & Mercy) collect dust until after the Olympics.

NBC is so frustratingly stupid and it's not a wonder they find themselves in their sad state.

Chuck has been yet another poor performer for NBC. Bringing it back is a tribute to the fact that NBC doesn't seem to think it is able to find anything better while CBS cancels shows that are doing much better than Chuck ever did.

The fact that NBC feels like it will have to re-re-launch Chuck is another proof that bringing it back at all is far from a good idea.

After all, if you're going to re-launch a show that has never shown any signs of ratings life, why not spend that PR money to launch a new show?

It looks like NBC trapped itself once more into the "we've hyped this show too much not to bring it back" trap.

I don't see how it could move to Thursdays given that Thursday is the only day of good programming on NBC with it's comedy block. While I would love for Chuck to return sooner rather than later, I don't think that would be a smart move given the marketing that is needed for this kind of launch. They need time to create buzz and let fans and non fans know when to tune in.

unless chuck is gonna replace parks & rec or community, i dont think it will be moving.

bring chuck back but not on thursdays. it will get crucified. there's just too much competition.

It shouldn't come back this year for many reasons, like promotional campaigns which just cannot be executed within the short time frame that we have. To read more on why it should and should not come back check out my Chuck season 3 coming back page here!

Wherever they place Chuck on this network, it's still bound to fail although Thursdays is not such a bad idea. It's better than that Parks and Rec crap and Community or air it on Fridays and bring Vegas back and get rid of Leno once and ror all...bottom line folks...NBC is one big mess!
