Twitter'Star Trek's Chris Pine in talks to play Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
Chris Pine went boldly in rebooting the venerable "Star Trek" franchise, and now wants to work on reviving a more down-to-Earth character.
Pine is in early talks to take over the role of Tom Clancy's CIA analyst Jack Ryan for Paramount Pictures, according to Variety. In a departure for the series, the upcoming project would not be based on one of Clancy's books, but an original script by "The Four Feathers" screenwriter Hossein Amini.
There's no word how the role would affect Pine's future "Star Trek" projects, though the actor has been vocal about seeking roles in other franchises, including "The A-Team" and DC Comics' Green Lantern.
The character of Ryan, meanwhile, has been played in the past by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and (in an earlier attempt to reboot the series) Ben Affleck.

Wouldn't be the worst choice.
Between Hollywood and Clancy himself, wasn't this franchise ruined years ago. Put a fork in it, already.
i think she has a great style and i hope she keeps up the good work...
Chris Pine is another of these actors that is repeatedly hyped and that Hollywood thinks is a star because they read their own hype in the paper...
The Star Trek remake was very poorly received (and likely did a lot less business than Paramount - a serial exaggerator - claims.
Yet Pine is going to star in a bunch of movies under the mistaken impression the public cares about him.
And so Hollywood's seas of Red Ink grows...

Chris did a fantastic job portraying Kirk in the very successful and enjoyable Star Trek reboot.
I'm sure he can do Jack Ryan justice as well.
Very poorly received? I think someone is upset that Star Trek was such a huge hit, and in no small part to Chris Pine's portrayal of James Kirk.
Good for him that he's doing well. He's a good actor, and he's handsome to boot.
