'So You Think You Can Dance': Is Mia Michaels exiting the show?
The Twitter page of "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographer Mia Michaels has been quiet for a couple months now, but yesterday evening, the Emmy-winner dropped a three-part message on her followers that exploded like a hydrogen bomb.It played out as follows:
I AM OFFICIALLY AN ADORING FAN OF SYTYCD....THANK U FOR 5 WONDERFUL YRS
TO CREATE MOMENTS AND MOVEMENT FOR THE WORLD TO SHARE WITH ME WAS A GIFT.....
THANKS SYTYCD AND LOOK FORWARD TO WHATS AHEAD FOR ME...LOOKOUT WORLD!!!!!
Our response? WTF?!
...and, by that, we don't mean "Why the face?"
Is Mia Michaels leaving "So You Think You Can Dance"?
The messages above certainly seem to indicate so.
If it is indeed true, not only will much of the show's loyal audience be disappointed, but the newly chosen Top 20 will likely be devastated.
We met up with them yesterday, just hours after they found out they had made the cut, and when asked which choreographer they were most looking forward to working with, the name "Mia Michaels" was the one said over and over again.
We've reached out to FOX for confirmation and/or comment on the situation. We'll keep you updated as the story develops.
In the meantime, any thoughts?

I'm not a Mia fan - so good ridance!
She'll be missed but it will be nice to see some new choreographers get some time in the spotlight.
Shut the front door - I hope so! Only Mary Murphy's laugh is worse and I think I'd rather spend the afternoon telling her knock-knock jokes than see another Mia episode.

Mia is a huge part of the show for me and I'm really sad that she's leaving. Seems odd to do it right now, though, since we're heading into the top 20. Why not wait until after this season?
Any chance her nose is out of joint with Adam Shankman being appointed a regular judge this year? Mia has been an integral part of SYTYCD for five seasons while Adam has been around only when he's not busy doing a movie. I wish Mia all the best for a bright future!! We haven't seen the last of her!!
I love Mia, and can't imagine the show without her.
About time...great choreography doesn't make up for the fact that she's a terrible human being. I don't even watch this show anymore and this news still makes me jump for joy.
If this is true, I'm completely disappointed by this news...I would want to work with her if I was a dancer, as horrible as she has been to some contestants. Booo I say!
The only way I would start watching the show again is if Nigel and Mary left. Adam was appointed judge because he would go along with their "chosen one".
Any chance Tice can be shown the door instead of Mia?
