paulaabdul_290.jpgTo sum up the news that came out of the first performance show of this "So You Think You Can Dance" season: Billy Bell is out, Noelle Marsh may follow and there's a standing place at the table for Paula Abdul.

The show began with head judge/proudcer Nigel Lythgoe spinning around the empty chair next to him to show that it was emblazoned with Abdul's name. Having attended a Barry Manilow concert with her this past weekend, Lythgoe says that Paula really wants to do the show and he once again extended the offer that, "You can dance, you can judge, you can choreograph. We don't mind. Just come on the show."

To which we say: "OK, then, let's do this thing."

noellemarsh_sytycd_290.jpgLythgoe also confirmed that Bell had to drop out due to an illness (mononucleosis) that will require an extended recuperation time. However, Noelle Marsh's fate has yet to be decided.

On Monday, Marsh had a "terrible accident" and damaged her knee. She still needs to undergo an MRI to see how severe her injury is and whether or not she will be able to continue.

In her place, choreographer Melanie Lapatin danced the foxtrot with Marsh's partner Russell Ferguson on Tuesday night.

Paula will be a great addition to this show. Full of life.

In past seasons a dancer who could not perform was cut. What makes Noelle immune? Is she so much more talented than Ariana that she can sit out a week and still win? Will Ariana be reinstated if Noelle still can't dance next week? Is any of this fair to Ariana?
It all smells of FIX.

I think they have lost me as a viewer.

Oct. 27th. Choreographer Sonya Tryed went off the deep end with her rendition of dance (?). It was awful and what struck me odd was that Nygelwho is always so critical
complimented her on her great achievement. Come on folks, lets be fair and truthful. It was awful. Lets stop giving the weirdos so much underserved credit.

Shannon: Get over yourself. This isnt the first time an injured dancer was given a week to recover. My God some people freak out over nothing. RELAX...

In all fairness, if you can't dance, you should not stay. In the past when someone could not dance that night, they had to dance for their life the next night. Since there was no next night this week, Noelle should have been cut. It's not fair to the dancers who are doing the work that her place be held for her. If you are going to treat Brandon (who had a day and a half) of rehearsal the same as all the others then the same should hold for Noelle, she should have been sent packing. NOt that it will make any difference, most of the gilrs this season are awful. The only ones that I would not have sent home last night were the two ballroom dancers and the last one to dance, the rest we just awful.

Good, she will be a great addition to thsi show.

Bring back Mia! Please!

Bring back paula.

They should have done another Top 18 showcase with their new partners in different styles and not eliminated anyone. Brandon got a raw deal if he can't try again next season. I would love to see Paula as a judge on SYTYCD.
