Casting Call: Samuel L. Jackson gets 'Different'; RZA plans for 'Due Date'

samuelljackson_290.jpgSamuel L. Jackson can kick butt. (Just ask all those monkey-fightin' snakes on that Monday-to-Friday plane.) Now he's ready to kick tearducts.

Jackson has signed on for "Same Kind of Different as Me," a weeper based on the true story of an art dealer and a con man who become friends.

The movie will be based on the 2005 memoir "Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. The book follows drifter Moore (presumably to be played by Jackson) and Dallas art mogul Ron Hall, who find solace when their mutual friend, Ron's wife Deborah, is diagnosed with cancer.

There's no word yet on who will play Ron or Deborah, or when production will begin.

-- Hip-hop producer RZA will be there for Robert Downey Jr.'s "Due Date." The rapper-turned-actor (in films including "American Gangster" and "Coffee and Cigarettes") has signed on for an unspecified role in the comedy, which also stars Jamie Foxx and Zach Galifianakis.

"The Hangover's" Todd Phillips will direct. Filming begins later this fall.
