Padma Lakshmi of 'Top Chef' is pregnant

"Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi has a bun in the oven.

The 39-year-old Lakshmi is expecting her first child, her rep tells Us Weekly. The identity of the child's father hasn't been revealed.

Lakshmi suffers from endometriosis, a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of a woman's uterus grows elsewhere on the body, causing pain, scarring and often infertility. Lakshmi co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America, which promotes research and early treatment of the disease.

"As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time," the rep tells the magazine.

In addition to her "Top Chef" duties, Lakshmi has written two cookbooks and worked as a model. She was also married to author Salman Rushdie for three years; they split in 2007.
