Maya Angelou dead? Not really
With celebrities -- Dennis Hopper, Paul Rodriguez, Tori Spelling -- falling ill left and right, it was easy to believe reports poet Maya Angelou had joined them.
Not true, though. Despite reports from gossip site TMZ that Angelou had been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital on Saturday night, CNN now says the poet is well... and not even in L.A.
Angelou, who turned 80 in April, was safe at home in New York City.
"Contrary to TMZ report, Maya Angelou is fine, at home, & wasn't even in LA Sat nite, said her literary agent Helen Brann," Tweeted CNN Wire news editor Saeed Ahmed.
Angelou contributed a poem read by Queen Latifah at this year's Michael Jackson memorial service.
