Judy Greer coming, 'FlashForward' showrunner going at ABC

judygreer_290.jpgJudy Greer is taking another shot at starring in a sitcom for ABC, this one based on a novel called "I'm With Stupid."

The project will star Greer ("Miss Guided," "27 Dresses") as a New Yorker who has a fling with a park ranger while on a South African safari. When he shows up at her door, she starts to discover that he's not the world's brightest guy but tries to make the best of it.

Elaine Szewczyk, who wrote the novel, will also pen the pilot script, the showbiz trade papers report. Allan Loeb ("21," "New Amsterdam") is executive producing with Steven Pearl and Richard Lewis; Szewczyk will be a co-exec producer.

Greer, who does voice work on Nickelodeon's "Glenn Martin, DDS" and FX's "Archer," has two movies due out next year: the family comedy "Marmaduke" and the Ed Zwick-directed drama "Love and Other Drugs."

- Elsewhere at ABC, "FlashForward" showrunner Marc Guggenheim is leaving the show and ceding the reins to co-creator David Goyer.

Guggenheim ("Eli Stone," "Jack & Bobby") was brought onto the show after its pilot to help Goyer oversee the day-to-day production of the series, which ABC recently picked up for a full season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goyer is now ready to run the show himself, so Guggenheim will depart and work on his development deal with ABC Studios.

CBS did something similar with its freshman show "The Good Wife." Dee Johnson joined after the pilot to lend a hand to creators Robert and Michelle King, but the Kings were given full control of the show after its full-season pickup.

In other words, they're keeping David Goyer and Brannon Braga in charge, which can only end in bad writing galore...

As to Judy Greer, are there really that many people eager to see her in her own show? She's not a bad performer, but really... How much star appeal does she have?

Initially I was intrigued by Lost, thought the premise was terrific, couldn't wait to see what happened next, looked forward to some explanations. After the second season of more questions and precious few answers I gave up. Haven't watched it since. I can only very fervently hope that Flashforward does not (underscored) do the same thing. I like being tantalized, but not to the point of utter frustration with the program.

Hey Rena, this is why you are a loser and you have no credibility. "In other words, they're keeping David Goyer and Brannon Braga in charge, which can only end in bad writing galore...". Yeah, David Goyer has written such terrible stuff like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Dork.

yoda you're an idiot criticizing melrose place 1) without watching it 2)basing a show's quality on it's ratings RETARD! haha =)
