CW casting moves: 'Gossip Girl's Joanna Garcia to 'HIMYM'; Kelly Lynch joins '90210'

JoAnna Garcia, fresh off an appearance on "Gossip Girl," will stick around New York City for a while. "The L Word's" Kelly Lynch, meanwhile, will head to Beverly Hills.

Garcia, former star of The CW's "Privileged," will guest on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother." Hooray for corporate synergy!

The actress will play a woman Ted (Josh Radnor) has lusted after since college. When said woman suddenly becomes single, Ted finds he has a window of opportunity to woo her before the next guy comes along.

The episode will air Dec. 7.

-- Lynch, meanwhile, will move to "90210." She'll play an older woman who seduces Ryan Eggold's Ryan Matthews. Complications arise, of course, when Matthews discovers Lynch's character is the mother of one of his students.

The episode is scheduled to air in January 2010.
