January Jones calls out Ashton Kutcher in GQ

januaryjones_gq_290.jpgJanuary Jones didn't take an old boyfriend's advice to quit acting, and a legion of "Mad Men" fans is thankful for that.

"The guy I was dating when I first got to L.A. was not supportive of my acting," Jones says in the November issue of GQ. "He was like, 'I don't think you're going to be good at this.' So -- f*** you! He only has nice things to say now -- if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated."

Oh, and the ex? You can direct your "in your face" tweets to the guy she dated for a while soon after coming to Los Angeles -- one Ashton Kutcher.

Jones graces the cover of November's GQ, and the accompanying profile includes tales of her beer-drinking prowess, her love of chain-restaurant queso and her uncanny ability to inhabit the character of Betty Draper on "Mad Men" without having had much formal training as an actor. There's also an accompanying photo shoot featuring Jones dressed in things far less prim than Betty usually wears.

Not that Ashton Kutcher is any position to judge anyone's acting skills...I think he was right.

JJ is the weak link among MAD MEN'S fantastic ensemble cast. She can't act and is simply a pretty face.

i disagree with clandestine. i think january is a pretty good actress and i'm glad she didnt listen to ak.

I think she's got one of the most complicated characters on the show and is doing an amazing job conveying that week in and week out. I'm so glad she didn't listen to him! Mad Men is one of the best shows on air right now, and I can't imagine it without Betty Draper as we know her.

January Jones is great in a badly-written role. Jon Hamm is very good but his character is well-honed. It's too bad the writers are not as generous with
the female characters. Just proves that the 1960s misogyny lives on.

I think she does an amazing job of conveying the darkness of Betty. Shes great.

anyway, Ashton Kutcher is an a-hole, and i think ppl are starting to get really sick of him!!

To be honest I didn't think much of her acting before 'Mad Men' so.... Now I think she has vastly improved.

Another great "punk'd" moment from Ashton!

lol...She probably was a horrible actress when she first started out (when she dated that 70s guy)...When u see ur friends trying something and are bad at it don't u tell them to quit or hint at how bad they are?

I just think that Ashton really "helped to her" to become the one of those
actresses out there by telling her what he thought then as a result.
I think that January is cute but not special.
