'Housewives' Bethenny Frankel confirms pregnancy

Like any proper mother-to-be, Bethenny Frankel wanted to wait to announce her pregnancy only after she passed the safe zone in her gestation. Too bad gossip blogger Perez Hilton outed her health status first.

"I'm pregnant," Frankel, 38, tweeted Tuesday, linking to the full announcement in People. "I had to be true w u but was unfairly forced to come forward early."

The "Real Housewives of New York City" star said it was "premature" to tell people the news, but had to respond to the rumor with the truth. "I am praying everything is okay but I don't know that yet."

"It's not like, 'Did I get Botox?' It's not the way I wanted it to get out," she says. "I haven't even gone through my first trimester. We haven't even heard the heartbeat. My [fiancee's] parents didn't even know."

Since both Frankel and Hoppy are 38, she admits they weren't always careful about birth control since she wanted to get her family underway. They plan to wed before the baby is born.

"Because of my age, it's not like I was going to meet a boy, and then be engaged for a year and then be married for a year before we started trying [to have kids] ... I'd be 45."
