FX picks up 'Terriers,' 'Lights Out'

donallogue_290.jpgFX is adding two more drama series to its lineup, a private-eye show called "Terriers" and a drama about a retired boxer called "Lights Out."

The two pickups finish off a pretty remarkable development run for the cable channel: FX commissioned six pilots this year, and all six have now been ordered to series. "Terriers" is scheduled to premiere next summer, while "Lights Out" will debut in late 2010.

They join another drama, "Lawman," and comedies "The League," "Archer" and "Louie" on the network's original series roster. "The League" is scheduled to premiere Oct. 29, while "Archer," "Lawman" and "Louie" will roll out in the first half of next year.

"Terriers" stars Donal Logue ("Life") as a former cop who opens an unlicensed private investigation business with his best friend (Michael Raymond-James, "True Blood"). The pair tries to solve crimes while avoiding the inherent responsibilities of the business as much as possible.

"Ocean's Eleven" writer Ted Griffin created the show and will executive produce with Shawn Ryan ("The Shield," "Lie to Me").

"Lights Out" centers on a former heavyweight boxing champion (Holt McCallany, "Vantage Point," "Fight Club") who suffers from both health and financial problems after retiring from the sport and struggles to support his wife and daughters.

Justin Zackham ("The Bucket List") wrote the pilot and will executive produce with showrunner Warren Leight ("In Treatment," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent").

Regarding Lights Out:
Is this movie a copy of or a take off of a student film I saw in 2006?
It has the EXACT SAME TITLE, is about a washed up boxer, who has to get into the ring for the benefit of family?????
