FOX confirms choreographer Mia Michaels has left 'So You Think You Can Dance'
Mia Michaels' last (So You Think You Can) dance came and went over the summer and we had no idea.The Emmy-winning choreographer -- who used her Twitter page Wednesday night to tip off fans that her "So You Think You Can Dance" days were over -- is indeed exiting the show.
FOX confirms that Michaels has moved on and executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe released the following statement:
"We are thrilled to have given a talent such as Mia
Michaels a platform to create Emmy Award-winning choreography. During the
auditions this season she has helped choose the best, most diverse top 20 we
have ever had. She knows that she is always welcome to return later this season
or next. She's chosen to move on to new challenges and we will
continue to support her and wish her all the best."
Michaels' departure comes as a surprise to fans as well as to the show's upcoming Top 20, many of whom told Zap2it this past Tuesday how much they were looking forward to working with the contemporary choreographer.
Still no word as to why she's made the decision to leave. Whether it be a contract dispute, a personal issue or something of a completely different nature, we have no idea, but we'll keep investigating...

I'd devastated to learn this. Mia has a unique voice and talent, and it has been a pleasure to see her creations on SYTYCD over the last few years. She'll be missed. :(

The show will definitely feel her absence! But, there is a bright side to this. Her departure gives some of the newer choreographers the chance to shine: Mandy Moore, Lorie Anne, and any choreographers who come over from the Canada or Aus SYTYCD. I'm certain the show will not only survive without her, but continue to thrive.

She will be missed. She was my favorite choreographer from SYTYCD. I look forward to seeing her future endeavors though.
I hope she comes back for maybe the finale show...huge loss for SYTYCD. No one does choreography like Mia.
