Former 'Kids Incoporated' star Fergie blames drug use on child stardom

fergie.JPGHip-hop star and known recovering drug addict Stacey "Fergie" Ferguson blames drug abuse on childhood stardom, including "Kids Incorporated."

34 year-old Fergie was on Disney Channel program "Kids Incorporated" from 1984 to 1990 and by all accounts was a vivacious young girl. Privately, her life was a mess of substance abuse, including crystal meth and ecstasy.

Fergie told US Weekly, "What happens when you're a child professional is that you have to be, well, professional. You're taught not to have tantrums, to always people-please. That's part of how I got into (drugs) later."

We suppose that's true but there are several "Kids Incorporated" alums who have had successful careers and not turned to drugs, including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mario Lopez and Martika (Toy Soldiers represent).

Wow -- the clown in that clip... just creepy.

Get off Fergies back-

I loved Kids Incorporated as a kid but honestly stop blaming your problems on being a child star. You have to take responsiblity for your actions. I wasn't a child professional but I wasn't allowed to throw tantrums and I was expected to please people too. It's called life quit complaining.

It's sad that more child stars aren't raised a normal lifestyle. I'd blame the parents more than the work setting.

It's not the drugs but the QUALITY of drugs. If only she had not tried to get high on the cheap. You get what you pay for folks.

you should have not done drugs especially since you starred in a kids incorporated episode about drugs.
