TwitterDavid Letterman tells audience about extortion, affairs
UPDATE: The person arrested in the Letterman case is a fellow CBS employee.CBS News is reporting that New York police arrested an employee of the network's newsmagazine "48 Hours" was charged with attempted grand larceny in the case. The man was arrested Thursday.

David Letterman took time away from telling jokes Thursday to relay to his audience that he was the victim of an extortion attempt.
During the taping of "The Late Show" Thursday, Letterman also admitted that he'd had sexual relationships with members of his staff, which the alleged extortionist threatened to reveal.
A press release from his company, Worldwide Pants, says Letterman received a package a few weeks ago claiming to have information about relationships Letterman had with female employees of "The Late Show." The person asked for $2 million to keep quiet.
He then contacted the Manhattan District Attorney's office, which set up a sting that involved Letterman giving the person a fake check for $2 million. The alleged extortionist was arrested Thursday; no other details about the con artist's identity are available.
"This morning, I did something I've never done in my life," Letterman told the "Late Show" audience. "I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury."
Part of that testimony involved copping to having slept with members of his staff.
"My response to that is, yes I have," he said. "Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would. I feel like I need to protect these people -- I need to certainly protect my family."
Letterman married his long-time girlfriend, Regina Lasko, in March. The couple has a 5-year-old son, Harry.

I used to watch this show until ole dumbo made his remarks about Palin. Now he comes out with his affairs. Now who is the best person Palin or ole dumbo. I hope they take him off the air, but then we might end with another idiot (Conan).

I just wonder what the time line was was it when hes been at the late show on cbs or also the nbc show and was it during when regina was pregs with henry and was there a morals clause on his cbs contract because if he did cbs can do some action on him eather fire him or fine him for the contract its sad and i hope for dave sake he will get better.
i hope dave is ok, sucks that woman throw themselves at clebs then go around and tell everyone about it. its not his fault that a trash similar to a palin type hit on him. poor guy, hope he is ok and he has already made things better with his wive.
i wouldnt put it past alaska trash to be the person who got this rumor started about dave having relations with his coworkers. alasksa trash was really pissed when dave made fun of her trash knocked up daughter and she said he was making fun of the younger trashy daughter, but he was making fun of the older trashy daughter. poor guy, hope he is ok, my prayer are with him, much be hard on his wive and kid.
