Balloon Boy throws up, dad denies hoax on 'Today'

balloonboy_today_video.jpgFalcon Heene, now forever known as Balloon Boy, may have been safe and sound during the tense hours when the nation was focused on finding him, but a few stray words have landed his family, specifically his father, in hot water.

During a "Larry King" interview Thursday night, when Falcon's parents Richard and Mayumi Heene asked him why he didn't respond when he heard his name called, the boy answered, "You had said we had did this for a show."

Those few mumbled words are now causing some people to suspect the entire incident was a hoax.

Richard Heene, a storm chaser who hosts the Internet series series "The Psyience Detectives," told Meredith Vieira on the "Today" show Friday morning that Falcon wasn't processing the question correctly. When the media had appeared on their doorstep and made Falcon show them how he had climbed into the attic, one of the reporters had told the boy they were taping it for a show, confusing him.

During the "Today" interview, Falcon was apparently ill, shutting his eyes while his father answered questions and at one point even asking his mom for a container before he vomited into it on camera.

Vieira continued with the interview, however, and asked to hear Richard's take on the hoax rumors.

"What do I got to gain out of this? I'm not selling anything," said the elder Heene. "I'm not advertising anything. My family and I, we do this all the time. We're always doing some kind of scientific research. We're always building something together. I teach my kids how to shoot cameras. It's highly educational for my boys. So, absolutely not. This is not some kind of a hoax."

Check out video of the interview below. (Falcon gets sick around the 6-minute mark)

i care! this is fun! this guy is a total, complete, utter scumbag, and yet so clearly bad at it. and it is so clearly a hoax. riveting!

These people are nothing more than celebrity junkies. If you doubt that, just look at this video made with the parents' assistance:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7vfqvgGap0

Hell, I'd puke too if I'd had a father like this chisler. Low-class all the way, and it's a pity some of the vomit didn't stain daddy's pant legs.

What I don't understand is why do the children need to be on camera in the first place? They are obviously exhausted and tired and the stupid parents keep parading them around the talk shows.
In my opinion this family needs counseling.

Again, this is nothing more than publicity stunt manufactured by this idiot and his wife. Simply put...bad parenting no matter what kind of a spin they put on it and the kid exposed their lie on CNN last night.

just goes to show ya, you can't expect a 6-yr-old to cooperate with a hoax! they'll just give it away every time, those little pikers! :)

whatever, the parents are negligent!
Having something like this in their backyard was an obvious danger, in that such a situation was even posible! No permit required? The parents are a danger to themselves and others! What's wrong with the mother?

it's hard to believe that so many people believed that a 6 year old kid was still inside of this deflated balloon, even right at the end when it was barely keeping it's own weight afloat

The father's eyes spend most of the interview time looking away from the camera. No eye contact = lack of confidence = his brain is trying to think hard and fast to make up for answers under pressure ! At the minimum, he's hiding the truth, if not lying.
