'Twilight: New Moon's Robert Pattinson chooses dark 'Bel Ami' over 'Dune'
Robert Pattinson won't be tasting the spice anytime soon.
Despite reports that the star of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" would be headlining Peter Berg's upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's famous sci-fi novel, sources tell Gossip Cop those rumors are untrue.
What is true is that Pattinson is set to star in a version of Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel "Bel Ami." He'll play amoral journalist Georges Duroy, who uses his harem of mistresses to move up the social and professional ladders.
Pattinson is currently filming "The Twilight Sequel: Eclipse." His non-vampire romantic drama "Remember Me" will be in theaters in time for Valentine's Day 2010.

Dune is nowhere near ready to film. Berg has a zillion projects on the go. Way too many.
That's too bad, dead-eyed Pattinson would be perfect for Peter "shakycam" Berg. It's not like you can tell what the actors are doing in any of his films!
I can't believe to is going to do Bel Ami, is there know other projects that he can do besides this one .really who gives a f--k about a 18th century poet that dies of syphilis.
I dont think Bel-Ami is about a poet that dies of syphillis. Wrong book dude.
I loved Bel-Ami, I think Robert Pattinson will be great!
gosh people let him be and let him decide what movies he wants to do he probably wants less stressful rolls after the twlight series
Rob is not a sci-fi action type. He said he doen't like doing athletic stunts or harnesses. he is more of a Drama period piece actor... I think. :)
The author of Bel-Ami died of syphilis. He is also an author of short stories. The "hero" of Bel-Ami is a womanizer who sleeps his way to the top of a newspaper publishing company in Paris. The book is a wonderful read, try it.
