'Twilight: New Moon' author Stephenie Meyer may 'Host' movie audiences

stepheniemeyer_twilight_290.jpgStephenie Meyer, author of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," just can't make love easy for her characters.

The rights to Meyer's 2008 novel "The Host," a love story involving humans possessed by aliens, have been picked up by producers Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz and Nick Wechsler as a potential follow-up to her successful "Twilight" books and movies, according to Variety. No studio is attached yet, though "Lord of War" director Andrew Niccol's name is being mentioned as screenwriter and director.

"The Host" follows Chicagoan Melanie Stryder who, in a world where humans are implanted with seemingly benevolent alien bugs, resists the control of her parasite, dubbed The Wanderer. Melanie sets off to Arizona to find her family and boyfriend, who are members of an anti-alien resistance; once there, Wanderer also falls in love with the boy. Awkward!

Meyer's latest movie endeavour, "New Moon," opens in theaters Nov. 20.

Yeah they'll probably butcher this one in movie form too. Ugh.

They will most likely kill the movie form of this one too. I love all of the Twilight books and the Host is even better, but unfortunately your thoughts and images of the characters, settings and things like that when you're reading the books are never portrayed correctly on the screen. They should just leave well enough alone. I will see this film when it comes out, just like I'll watch the Twilight films, but it wont be out of the enjoyment of the movie, but for the love of the book.

Hated the Host and hope they don't make this into a movie I can't see it being good at all.

Anything! Even look like becoming a remake movie or heading to the Big screen! I like to add my Gold Mind! Awesome potential! Great opportunity for a Redd Foxx Tribute in Sanford and Son “THE MOVIE”

That would totally Rock!!! I read the book three times!! It was nothing like Her other books so it made the reading experience that much more special..I was hoping someone would pick up on this book and make it a movie!!! The whole time I was reading the book I could picture Zoey Dechenel playing the part of Melanie stryder, and Ryan Reynolds as Ian...

this would be so awsome!!! the movie better turn out good though! hopefully it'll have a better directeor than Twilight. that movie got me so mad. and the sparkley part with the sound effects in the background was rediculous!!

uh, you got the where froms wrong. she was actually an Arizonian who went to Chicago to rescue a family member....

They likely will butcher it. Hopefully Hardwicke doesn't direct it. Twilight was a travesty.

With the right visionary director with substantial visual effect capabilities, this film could be good. I'm very excited about this film adaptation.

But please, don't choose another Hardwicke as director. Please leave the book's integrity intact.

read the book like 4 times. loved it. great story and very different from the twilight books. i really do hope they dont mess it up as they did with twilight i liked the movie but it didnt match the book so i just hope they do a better job with the host.
