CBS coasted to a ratings win Friday with its lineup of premieres, but the numbers for its returning shows were down a bit from last fall's debuts. NBC's "Law & Order" and FOX's "Brothers" and "Dollhouse" didn't do much either.

The Eye averaged 8.4 million viewers and a 5.4 rating/10 share in households for the night, finishing about 2.5 million viewers ahead of second-place NBC (5.9 million, 4.0/7). ABC took third with 5. million viewers and a 3.5/6. FOX (2.7 million, 1.7/3) finished fourth, and The CW (1.8 million, 1.2/2) brought up the rear.

CBS won the adults 18-49 demographic as well, albeit with a modest 2.0 rating. ABC grabbed second in the demo with a 1.7. NBC's 1.4 was good enough for third, followed by FOX, 1.0, and The CW, 0.8.

FOX: "Brothers" series premiere - two episodes (2.8 million, 1.8/3)

Smallville is good
Medium either but i dont like her so much

its to sad about my Lobotomy i hope this is temporal
Grammar is good
Spelling either but i dont like them so much

People who complain about grammar, spelling, etc on the internet are like beggars who complain because the quarters people drop in their cup are too dirty. :P

to early for this

Bad grammar/speech on the internet leads to ebonics in real life

People in the cup complain and the grammer is so dirty that beggars are quarters that drop on the internet.

It will be interesting to see what the history books have to say about Jay Leno at 10. To think that NBC dumped Medium for Leno and Leno's is producing nearly 40% less.

So Dollhouse is bombing right out of the gate... What a surprise... ;)

I'd love to hear Kevin Reilly explain that one again, and this time without using the words "fan" and "buzz".

The sad thing is that given the paucity of reflection from the current breed of executives, Dollhouse's failure will probably be explained by its being on Friday rather that by its being a Joss Whedon show failing, once gain to bring in viewers.

As for typos, the only reason I don't make too many is because my browser keeps underlining them in red, which is quite helpful! :)

Leno will make more than Medium because it costs less and it's on all year. CBS stood to profit more than NBC from Medium because they produce the show, so they can make syndication cash. Compare Medium to other shows NBC kept on, because Leno over Medium is an easy call for the network right now.
