TV ratings: 'America's Got Talent' finale rules Wednesday

kevinskinner_americasgottalent_290.jpgFast National ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009

The crowning of Kevin Skinner as the 2009 "America's Got Talent" winner gave NBC a ratings victory Wednesday night and also helped "The Jay Leno Show" improve on its Tuesday numbers. FOX's "Glee" held onto most of its audience from last week, but "The Beautiful Life" pulled in rather homely numbers for its premiere on The CW.

NBC scored 14.7 million viewers and a 9.1 rating/15 share in households for the night, more than doubling the audience for its nearest competitor. CBS finished second with 6.21 million viewers and a 4.2/7, slightly ahead of FOX's 6.16 million and 3.9/6. ABC (4.6 million, 2.8/5) came in fourth. The CW trailed with 2.1 million viewers and a 1.5/3.

The adults 18-49 race was a little bit closer, with NBC's 3.5 rating beating FOX's 2.7 for the top spot. ABC took third in the demographic with a 1.7, edging CBS' 1.6. The CW drew a 1.0.

Looks like someone is losing their job over at the CW... fingers crossed for Dawn Ostroff!

Glad to see Glee was able to bring back most of its first week audience! That means FOX has got something good here.

Jay Leno For The Win!

Why did the CW cancel Reaper again?

Hate to disagree with you Krystal, but 6 million viewers with little competition in week 2 is a bomb, no matter how you slice the numbers and tell the press you were expecting worse.

Jake, I stopped worrying about Dawn Ostroff. She clearly has amazing protection within WB and/or CBS. Anyone not highly connected would have been fired long ago for the disastrous results she has gotten.

Tonight FOX is stunting Fringe (after re-launching it as if it were a new show) and will no doubt use all its spinning powers to try and make it look good no matter what (I think I've seen more promos for Fringe than any other show on any network!)

Anna Torv looks like she got plastic surgery, but sadly she still seems to be grimacing in lieu of acting...

Rena, I haven't seen any promos about Fringe yet... that's because there hasn't been anything on Fox worth watching all summer long. Haha

Rena, can't you find some way to twist these numbers and make it seem that NBC did awful? You're usually so creative at these things!

I can't believe Kevin Skinner won, He can't carry a tune in a bucket! There must have been a lot of bar room drunks voting. The real true talent was robbed! Of course Susan Boyle didn't win either, but look at her now!

The only way Lenowill win his timeslot is if its rerun week. He only beat Criminal Minds by 1 million and that was a rerun. Leno will be in 3rd place next week every night. He might win Fridays

Rena,

Little competition? Really? The finale of AGT only doubled every other programs audience in both hours.

Don't get me wrong, despite actually enjoying Glee, I have no fantasies about it lasting long enough to be renewed for S2, but still, 6.64 was hardly the disaster I thought it would be in week 2.

As for Fringe, ouch, tell us how you really feel.
