'The View': Kate Gosselin talks meltdown, paychecks, Madonna

As Jon Gosselin continues to dig himself deeper and deeper into his he's-too-young-for-a-midlife-crisis-so-what's-his-excuse second adolescence, estranged wife Kate Gosselin once again took the high road and made a savvy decision by guest hosting "The View" on Monday (Sept. 14)Calm and measured she wasn't even phased when early on host Sherri Shephard asked "How do you feel about him bringing that women around your children?" in regards to Jon's current gal pal Hailey Glassman.
Kate admitted that it was "difficult" and said that away from people and the cameras she had a private meltdown over the weekend. But she also sticks by her decision to continue her current media-related career path because "I'm a single mom and I need a paycheck."
While she didn't seamlessly mesh with Shephard, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, Kate did manage to hold her own. When the ladies were discussing Madonna's rather egocentric words of tribute to Michael Jackson at Sunday night's Video Music Awards, almost every line of which was ended with "so did I," Kate did it one better that if it had continued the Material Girl would have ventured, "Michael Jackson passed away, but I haven't."

Exactly how is this article an example of "Kate taking the high-road"? She is still talking about her family of TV, of course she is only doing it for her kids. Please. Cannot wait for her kids to see this crap when they get older. I'm sure they will be ever so thankful that Mom did all this for them....
The Kate bashing by a select clutch of Kate-hate internet groupies is getting so, so tiresome.
Time to worry about your own small lives ladies, and stop making nasty comments about Kate all over the 'net.

Madonna has built a career on egocentric tactics, however, last night's speech did NOT come off that way. It seemed genuine and from the heart. It was the Queen of Pop paying tribute to the King of Pop. I think the ladies of the view have let the Emmy go to their heads. They are the ones who are so egotistical that they failed to actually listen to Madonna's message and jumped straight to bashing her. They are all definitely OLD enough to know better!
She did a good job on the show although I thought in reality she was difficult to get along with.
For all of you that are bashing Kate I say one thing " Unless you have eight children to take care of and have walked in her shoes, then you should stop throwing the stones!" Some day those stones will come back to hit YOU!

Perfect enough to know that Kate Gosselin is no where NEAR being a single mother. Further, she is being supported by her 8 kids, not the other way around.
She has NO clue what it is to be a single mother and her comments today are a slap in the face to woman all over the world that ARE single mothers and ARE doing it all themselves, and doing it without their children supporting them.
Children should not have to support their parents full stop, but certainly not to pay for a celebrity lifestyle.
OMG! A single mom needing a paycheck? Sell the million dollar home! Geez, what a slap in the face to working single moms everywhere!

Stay home with your kids. Every mom deserves a day or night out once in a while, but you stay gone for days, weeks at a time.
Get over yourself. The rest of us have gotten of you months ago and are really sick of your face, your big shiny teeth (that your kids paid for) and that gosh awful hair cut (that the kids paid for)!
I find it disgusting that everyone can bash people they dont even know. Kate is going through a tough time in her life and none of us should be putting her down or Jon for that matter. Not one of us are without faults and it must be very hurtful to her that the problems she is going through are spread all over for the world to see. So people stop being so critical. Why don't you try doing something nice like saying a prayer instead of being vicious.
I was a single mom of 1 and that was difficult. I can't imagine being single with 8. Kate has direction,focus and determination. She knows all the responsibility falls on her and she will do all she can within reason to support her children. Those who are bad-mouthing Kate I believe are truly jealous. She's doing what it takes to make a life. So what that it's through TV shows. Her kids seem to be ok with it. I feel bad for the people out there that allowed the "green eyed monster" to get to them. Lighten up people, unless you've been in the same situation, you have no clue!
