'Sex and the City': Sarah Jessica Parker channels Bette Midler, Glenn Close

The second "Sex and the City" movie has started filming in New York. And while star Sarah Jessica Parker's wardrobe says "Flashdance," her hair and crazy eyes scream "The Rose" and "Fatal Attraction."

It's like the former Broadway star of "Annie" is now lining herself up to play evil orphanage owner Miss Hannigan.

While usually if we wait long enough, everything will come back in style we were pretty sure that wasn't going to be the case when it came to frizzy perms. What's next: football player shoulder pads and prom dresses with big bows on the butt?

Then again, that's the risk of having to maintain being fashion forward. You have to make a guess that when you zig the rest of the world isn't going to laugh and zag.

Big promised to love, honor and keep Carrie in her cherished shoes at the end of the first "SATC" movie, but white jeans, an inside-out sweatshirt with the neck cut out and a single strand of pearls might be grounds for divorce this time around.

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly has raised the very valid point that this look may be for a flashback scene of what Carrie Bradshaw originally wore when she first arrived in New York back in the '80s. We certainly hope so, although now we'll have to deal with the suspension of disbelief required to buy into a 44-year-old actress playing a more than 20-years younger version of her character.
