'Saturday Night Live' adds two cast members
The cast of "Saturday Night Live" will grow by two more people this season.
Nasim Pedrad (on the left) and Jenny Slate, both veterans of the Upright Citizens Brigade (as are past and present "SNL" performers Amy Poehler, Abby Elliott, Bobby Moynihan and Casey Wilson), will join the show for its 35th season. Their hiring was first reported by The Comic's Comic; NBC isn't commenting.
Pedrad and Slate will bring a little more gender balance to the cast, which will now number six women and nine men. At 15 people, this season's cast will be one of the largest in recent history.
Slate is a regular on the New York comedy scene as half of the duo Gabe & Jenny and has also performed a one-woman show called "Dead Millionaire" at the UCB New York theater. She's also a frequent talking head on several VH1 shows.
Pedrad performed her one-woman show "Me Myself & Iran" at the HBO Comedy Festival in 2007 and has also appeared in several episodes of "ER" as a nurse.
"Saturday Night Live" begins its new season on Sept. 26.

It's amazing how little I care.
And yet, no more black, asian or hispanic actors.
To Foolish- pretty sure Nasim is Middle Eastern, but I guess that doesn't count as diversity?
Following up on elle's comment to Foolish: And just to play devil's advocate, Kenan Thompson is black, and Fred Armisen is of partial Hispanic and Asian descent.
