Paula Abdul is forever our girl on 'VH1 Divas'

Check out Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" medley on "VH1 Divas" tonight. Video below. She also does a decent Ellen Degeneres impression.

If you're anything like us, you played your "Forever Your Girl" cassette until you wore it out. Tonight Paula Abdul took the stage and graced us with a medley that included "Cold Hearted Snake," "Opposites Attract," "Straight Up" and "Forever Your Girl." We've got not only the video of Paula's old-school medley but also video of her opening monologue.

We were excited to hear "Cold Hearted Snake." It's really the forgotten Paula hit (and my own personal favorite, just FYI. Video here if you need to be refreshed of its awesomeness). We also loved seeing a cameo by MC Scat Cat for the "Opposites Attract" bit.

Paula's dancing is obviously not what it once was, but it's been 20 years so that's alright. She had a little stumble at one point, but she covered well. We're pretty sure she was lip-syncing, since at one point she threw the mic to the side and it didn't flip back up in time for when her singing started.

Her hosting is... hilarious, but mostly unintentionally. A comedienne she is not but she was very cute. Paula greeted us with "THIS... is NOT 'American Idol'" to thunderous applause and just kinda bopped her way through her opening monologue. There was a joke about breast-feeding the Idol alums, which was a little disturbing.

We did like her bit with Kathy Griffin. We can't believe Paula called her "fire crotch."  Excellent. The performances were great, but they were really just filler between the Paula segments.

The best segment was when Paula did a send-up of Ellen Degeneres dancing. She had on sneakers, a suit jacket and a blonde wig, so great. It went on a little long, but her dancing was spot-on. She was also very gracious in congratulating and wishing Ellen luck.
