Michael Jackson 'This Is It' trailer debuts at VMAs

Michael Jackson will be honored at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday -- and fans will also get a peek at some of the last footage of him performing.

MTV and Sony will premiere the trailer for "This Is It," the film that chronicles Jackson's preparations for what would have been a series of 50 concerts in London. The trailer will premiere during the awards, which air at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, and will subsequently be available on the movie's web site, which will also launch Sunday night.

"This Is It" is a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations for Jackson's London concerts; he had been in rehearsals for the shows in the days before his June 25 death. Footage was shot between April and June as Jackson worked with director and choreographer Kenny Ortega (who also directed the movie) to hone the stage show.

The VMAs will be heavy on Jackson-related content. In addition to the trailer, Janet Jackson will lead a tribute to her brother that will open the show.

"This Is It" will run for two weeks only in theaters starting Oct. 28. Tickets go on sale Sept. 27.
