Casting Call: Mark Blucas visits Tom Cruise's 'Wichita,' Bond girl targets 'Drewe'
Poor Marc Blucas. First he had to compete with Angel as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" college love. Now he's going up against Tom Cruise.
The actor has signed on to co-star in Cruise's "Wichita" project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The codenamed feature is an action comedy in which an unlucky-in-love woman (Cameron Diaz) falls for a secret agent (Cruise, natch). Blucas, who played the Slayer's boyfriend Riley, will step into the role of Diaz's firefighter ex-boyfriend who -- you guessed it -- still carries a torch for her.
Filming on the project begins this October in Boston.
Speaking of secret agents, "Quantum of Solace" cutie Gemma Arterton will follow up "Clash of the Titans" with an adaptation of the British graphic novel "Tamara Drewe," THR says. Posy Simmonds' 2008 work follows a group of Britons suffering midlife crises.
Arterton will play the title role, who in the book is a plastic surgery-enhanced beauty whose return to her hometown kicks off the aforementioned crises. Filming begins in London later in September.

No contest for me, Marc Blucas would win every time. Too bad for him though that I boycott Cruise's movies.
I honestly cannot wait for this movie to come out. I've been following Tom's blog TomCruise.com/blog and am waiting to see what he says about his up coming Wichita movie.
Guess you forgot that Marc Blucas also was Mrs. Tom Cruise's leading man in 2004's "First Daughter".
I'm with you, Andrea. He and his wife both need to just stay home with the kids and quit inflicting themselves on the innocent public.
Delighted that Blucas is finally getting some spotlight. I adored him as Riley Finn and have been following his career since then. This and the 'Lie To Me' guest spot should give him his due. He was great in 'The Jane Austen Book Club' (awesome movie btw).
