'Glee': FOX picks up a full season

glee.jpgSomething to sing about: "Glee" ain't going nowhere.

Though FOX has yet to make the official statement, insiders are saying the network will green light an additional nine episodes of the freshman series sometime today.

The musical dramedy from "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy has performed fairly well in its first two weeks this fall, attracting 7.3 million viewers to its opener and 6.6 million the following Wednesday.

Critically, the show has been praised highly.

So, thoughts?

Is FOX making a smart decision here or would you wait a bit longer before committing to a full season?

UPDATE 1:50 p.m.: The back nine pick up is now official. In a press release, FOX's Entertainment President Kevin Reilly said, "The response we've received to "Glee" has been remarkable. It's already got the makings of a cultural phenomenon. I've seen all 13 episodes, and Ryan Murphy, his team and the talented "Glee" cast have knocked our socks off with their incredible work. We're happy to pick up this gem of a show and can't wait to see what they'll do with the rest of the season."

YYYYYYYYEAH!

I'd be patient and wait for 2 more episodes to see if the 18-49 rating is stable.

Best news I've heard all day!

Why wouldn't they? Even this early in the game it's the biggest hit they're going to get. Might as well commit early.

That got the demo they wanted and the music sales are big.

Fox is happy.

WOO HOO!

Hooray! Best decision by Fox. I hate committing to a show when I don't know if the network is going to. This lets the audience know that their commitment will pay off in the long run and they won't lose a show they love after only a few episodes.

I find it VERY hard to believe that anyone could find any of the characters on this "show" worth an investment of time.

The musical talent assembled is pretty good. But the characters are as ridiculous as as any foil in a Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon, and much less sympathetic.

I'm not going to lie: This news just made my day =)!!!

This show is so hysterically funny I was afraid it wouldn't be picked up. I'm so glad to see a good comedy added to the Fox network.
