'Fantastic Four' start over, 'Green Hornet' delayed

fantasticfour_riseofthesilversurfer_290.jpgDisney may have purchased Marvel Entertainment, but 20th Century Fox is determined to revive their corner of the comic-book giant.

Fox is planning a total theatrical reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise, according to Variety. That's not such a bad idea: 2007's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" was mostly panned, garnering only a paltry 36 percent fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

"Heroes" co-executive producer Michael Green will write the script. There's no word on the plot, but Fox has been exploring superheroes' backstories with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and the planned "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and "X-Men Origins: First Class," so expect something similar for the Four.

The Fantastic Four are a quartet of scientists exposed to cosmic rays, thereafter taking on aspects of the four elements: water (Mr. Fantastic), earth (The Thing), air (The Invisible Woman) and fire (The Human Torch).

Seth Rogen's "Green Hornet," meanwhile, is being pushed back again. The movie had been set to release July 9, 2010, but will now debut Dec. 17 of that year, according to Variety.

There's no word from Sony on why the move was made.

The film, based on a 1960s superhero, has suffered a number of setbacks, including the resignation of original director and co-star Stephen Chow.

I as a comic book collector and after what they did to the story of the Fantastic 4, I hope they treat the story with more respect in the future. Personally I would wait longer.
