Dr. Horrible takes over the 2009 Emmy Awards
Just when you thought television was safe, Dr. Horrible took over.
The doctor, a supervillain conceived by Joss Whedon and played by Emmys host Neil Patrick Harris for the Web series "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," interrupted what would doubtless have been a fascinating explanation of how nominations are tabulated.
Decrying "corporate entertainment" and even the awards' "athletic and luminous host," Horrible laid out a plan to take over television, but was quickly thwarted by nemesis Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). Sadly, contrary to previous reports, the short wasn't a musical bit.
The Internet series won the confusingly titled Short-Format Live-Action Special Class award at the Emmys' Creative Arts ceremony, held separately from the televised event.

Best thing ever on an amazing broadcast!!! Kudos all!!!!
Fantastic. All the talent from Dr. Horrible is excellent. For those that haven't seen Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog I highly recommend it. It is very good.
So disappointed it wasn't a musical but at least i got to see lots of new DR Horrible.
Does anyone agree with me that the Emmy Awards Show last night was just AWFUL? It was painful to watch the way it poked along, and the comedy fell flat on its face. At some point, I just felt sorry for the host....
Thanks zap2it for including my Nathan in the picture before the link!!
Actually, I was surprised that the Emmy's didn't suck. Sure, it's still an awards show so the pace at times was ponderous, but the banter between presenters was mostly humorous and NPH was sharp, slick and amusing. Didn't like the dancing number and whenever the set changed there was a lull and of course there is the overreaching problem of so many fantastic shows shut out of the show altogether, but at least they got a mention during the year in reviews (I cheered a little to see BSG's name on the screen) I found it pretty watchable and I don't even watch 90 percent of the shows nominated.
Having Dr. Horrible and the rest of the cast briefly appear was just great to see. They recreated the set very well and I wonder if Josh Whedon had anything to do with the writing? It was extremely funny and well done. For a change the Emmys were entertaining, now that is a novel idea!
