'Dancing With the Stars' pro sweethearts split

"Dancing With the Stars" pros Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy won't be partnering up in life after all.

The reality show fiancees have ended their relationship, reports People.

Smirnoff, 31, and Chmerkovskiy, 29, had gotten engaged just before the new year and planned to walk down the aisle in June 2010.

Work interfered, however, keeping them apart with the demands of Broadway.

The two are both natives of Ukraine. She was previously involved with her former "Dancing" partner Mario Lopez, but they split up.

When "Dancing With the Stars" returns to ABC on Monday, Sept. 21, Chmerkovskiy will be paired with actress Debi Mazar, while Smirnoff partners with pop star Aaron Carter.
