Clint Eastwood sends Matt Damon to the 'Hereafter'

Is Clint Eastwood about to kill Matt Damon?

Damon has signed on to star in "Hereafter," according to the trades; Eastwood will direct and produce. While there's very little information on what the plot will entail, Variety claims it'll be a supernatural thriller in the vein of "The Sixth Sense."

That's an odd concept coming from Peter Morgan, whose past scripts were the decidedly more earthbound "The Queen" and "Frost/Nixon."

Eastwood and Damon worked together on "Invictus," the story of Nelson Mandela's efforts to bring the Rugby World Cup to South Africa. Eastwood directed that picture, due out Dec. 11, and Damon stars as rugby star Francois Pienaar.
