Avril Lavigne next 'American Idol' guest judge

Apparently it takes 8 people to fill Paula Abdul's "American Idol" shoes. Add singer Avril Lavigne to the list.

Canadian pop princess ~~Robin Sparkles~~ Avril Lavigne has punched her ticket for Meltdown City by agreeing to judge the callback rounds in Los Angeles. Please, oh please, let somebody sing "Sk8r Boi."

Lavigne joins the ranks of Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Shania Twain, Joe Jonas, Kelly Clarkson, Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth. I know I already made the joke... but this really IS starting to sound like the next "We Are the World" benefit album lineup.

Don't you get it? They're cost cutting and taking a page out America's Next Top Model's play book.

ANTM dumped Paulina and brought in a rotation of guests. AI is apperently taking the same approach.

I'm fine with it... 4 judges are too many, sometimes 3 can be too many. That's I never watch any competition shows live.

DVR is the best invention since I don't know what...

Neil Patrick Harris as a judge? LOL He doesnt sing. He doesn't produce. Guess you really don't need any musical background to do this show. Who's next to be a judge? The weirdo progressive car insurance lady from those commercials?

excuse me? avril lavigne is an AWESOME singer. she has a lot of talent and is an amazing role model. and even if avril is nasty...atleast shes real unlike those other girls who are covered completely in makeup and revealing clothing and a sweet face that aint even close to being real. i think avril on the show will give it some spunk.
