susanlucci_290.jpgCome Friday, Dec. 11 the ABC soap opera "All My Children" will be closing up shop in New York City after 39 years and moving production to Los Angeles.

This means the large cast has to pick up and move across the country as well. Among the contract players who will: Brittany Allen, David Canary, Bobbie Eakes, Melissa Claire Egan, Stephanie Gatschet, Ricky Paull Goldin, Vincent Irizarry, Michael E. Knight, Susan Lucci, Jamie Luner, Adam Mayfield, JR Martinez, Cameron Mathison, Debbi Morgan, Cornelius Smith, Jr., Denise Vasi, Darnell Williams and Jacob Young.

Thorsten Kaye, who has played Zach Slater since 2004, has announced that he will not be relocating and Ray MacDonnell is taking the opportunity to retire from the role of Joe Martin that he's had since 1970.

aliciaminshew_290.jpgAlicia Minshew, who's played Kendall Hart since 2002, will be going on maternity leave beginning in November although she will still appear on the show throughout December.

ABC says that "recurring" actors participation will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on what the storylines dictate and their availability.

Production will resume after the holiday hiatus on Monday, Jan. 4.

Good for AMC, I know a lot of people make fun of soaps but the alternative is more reality and judge shows. I'd rather take semi bad acting with fun plots over another john and kate plus 8 anyday.

I second that notion, though I enjoy OLTL and GH most.

Does this mean that Thorsten could reprise his role of Patrick Thornhart on OLTL to put a crimp in the relationship of John & Marty?
And I love my stories!

Does anyone else find it hilarious that JR Martinez is going, but Beth Ehlers was dismissed, despite the fanfare over acquiring her? Apparently the producers didn't need anyone "to be performing Shakespeare."

I stopped warching AMC years ago! Alica and Susan are bad actresses this is what AMc has been reduced to under \the current regime! And that sad considering they had Cady McClain talented, beautiful and sexy and Julia Barr, Kim Delaney! Three talents! Could care less!

I really never doubted that Succi would head west with the show. Pine Valley without Erica would just be strange
