Will Susan Lucci move with 'All My Children'?
ABC soap opera "All My Children" will be moving from New York City -- its home of 39 years -- to Los Angeles at the end of the year. But will its star be joining them?Susan Lucci, who has played Erica Kane since 1970, tells People magazine that while the cross-country relocation is great for the show and proves that ABC is invested in their continued success, personally she's in "shock" and finds it all very "overwhelming."
"I'm a New Yorker. My family is here. I love this city. So I have a lot to think about."

Of course she's going to move with the show. if she was going to do anything other than AMC, she would've done it by now.
Is that annoying Brooke STILL on there? I don't mind Erica, but Brooke really did the show in for me and that was in the mid-90's.
Brook is gone. The writers didn't even write a goodbye story for her. She was just forgotten about. It's a shame.
I can understand how she feels. Hasn't she been on the show since day one? Living in a place for nearly 40 years you get really used to it.
Having said that, I'm no fan of hers. The woman can't act. And if she leaves "AMC" to stay in NYC her career will be over, she will have to start her retirement. Nobody is going to want to cast her.
Doesn't "One Life To Live" still film in NYC? I watch that show all the time. Hopefully they don't do something stupid and cast her should she leave "AMC" to stay in NYC. I'd be soooo annoyed to be forced to watch her.
That's not such a far fetched idea though, she wouldn't even have to play a new character as the two shows opperate in the same fictional universe. Erica could just move to Llanview (the town OLTL takes place in). They wouldn't dare do this would they? Let's hope and pray not.
Yes, Lucci has been with All My Children since it started in January 1970.
And yes, One Life still is going to film in NYC. One Life is going to move into the studios that AMC is leaving giving One Life 30% more space. The studios that One Life is currently filming in are said to be turned into "much needed" office space for the network.
Brooke, played by the magificent Julia Barr, had been on the show since 1976. The writers had misused the character in the 90s and the lack of closure to the character as Adam said is disrespectful to the entire genre of the soap opera.
That all said, I do hope that this move for AMC to Los Angeles is a sign that ABC is dedicated to the soap opera form. With the end of Guiding Light in September, the art form of the soap opera needs some support.
I don't think she'll go. At least not on a permanent basis anyways. I could see her coming back and visiting, but she is a New Yorker and I just don't see her in L.A. I think its pretty easy to go from L.A. to NYC, but NYC to L.A. would be much more difficult. For one thing ... you have to start driving.
I disagree that no one would want to cast her. I'm not saying whether I think she can act or not, but that doesn't really matter, because she is Susan Lucci and another soap or a show taped in NYC or a Broadway Show would be crazy not to snatch her up.
I don't watch AMC but I do think Susan is a wonderful person. I don't think she will move to L.A. but I do think she will continue to make occasional appearances on the show as a non-contract player. I think one of the reasons they did this is to slash the budget so if the higher-paid stars decide not to move, I don't think ABC will be too upset, sorry to say.
Doesn't Thorston's wife work at One life to live? I'm afraid he's not going to LA.
Maybe he'll join the cast of OLTL as Patrick again.
I will be devestated if Susan Lucci doesn't move to LA, however, her decision should be supported by all of her fans. Since she was born and raised in Long Island and her parents and son live in New York of course this is a difficult decision for her & her husband.
I must say that there is a huge possibility that I will stop watching AMC if LaLucci doesn't go with the show. I have watched AMC for almost 20 years, since I was 10 years old. I met her a few years ago and she is a pure vision of beauty, grace and cl***.
