TV ratings: CBS and FOX repeat Thursday split

Once again, CBS could claim the most viewers Thursday night, but FOX took the demographic title home with preseason football.

CBS drew 8.4 million viewers and a 5.2 rating/9 share in households for the night, ahead of FOX's approximately 6.3 million and 4.0/7. ABC came in third  (4 million, 2.8/5), followed closely by NBC (3.7 million, 2.5/4) and The CW (1.7 million, 1.1/2).

FOX lead the adult 18-49 demo competition with a 2.3 rating with CBS close behind witha 2.1. NBC, 1.4, grabbed third, while ABC took fourth, 1.1. The CW trailed with a 0.7.

The hour-by-hour results:

8 p.m.

CBS: "Big Brother 11" (8.1 million viewers, 5.0/9 households)
FOX: NFL preseason - Miami vs. Tampa (7 million, 4.4/8)
ABC: "Grey's Anatomy" rerun (4.4 million, 3.0/5)
NBC: "30 Rock" rerun (3.6 million, 2.5/5)/"Parks and Recreation" rerun (3.1 million, 2.1/4)
The CW: "Supernatural" rerun (1.7 million, 1.1/2)

18-49 leader: "Big Brother" (2.7)

9 p.m.

CBS: "CSI" rerun (8.5 million, 5.4/9)
FOX: NFL preseason (5.7 million, 3.7/6)
ABC: "Grey's Anatomy" rerun (4.4 million, 3.0/5)
NBC: "The Office" rerun (4.2 million, 2.5/4)/"30 Rock" rerun (3 million, 2.0/3)
The CW: "Supernatural" rerun (1.6 million, 1.0/2)

18-49 leader: NFL preseason (2.1)

10 p.m.

CBS: "The Mentalist" rerun (7.9 million, 5.3/9)
NBC: "Law & Order" rerun (4.1 million, 2.9/5)
ABC: "Private Practice" rerun (3.1 million, 2.3/4)

18-49 leader: "The Mentalist" (1.9)

Once again, there is no "split".

CBS led the whole night and won easily.

Based on those re-run numbers, ABC must be quite worried about its Thursday. NBC is of course unworried as it knows it will come in way behind by bringing back its losing lineup.

I watched back to back Supernatural episodes. Can't wait for Sept 10.

So essentially, all of our comments on past posts have mysteriously vanished? Well that just annoys me to no end. Typical of Zap2It...take a perfectly-fine way of doing things, and screw it up royally. Thanks guys, really, for making it less appealing for those of us who like to respond to these things. Great way to lose fans.
