Timothy Olyphant as FX's 'Lawman' -- first look
FX's new series "Lawman" won't premiere until the spring, but after viewing a clip of Timothy Olyphant inhabiting a character created by Elmore Leonard, we've got it marked on the calendar.
"Lawman" stars Olyphant as a deputy U.S. marshal who finds himself assigned to the hills of eastern Kentucky coal country where he grew up. It's based on Leonard's short story "Fire in the Hole" and was brought to TV by "Boomtown" and "Band of Brothers" writer Graham Yost.
And, yeah, if you watch the clip and think "modern-day Seth Bullock" -- Olyphant's character in "Deadwood" -- you're probably not alone. Marshal Raylan Givens isn't quite as tightly wound as Bullock was, but you get a sense that it wouldn't take too much to set the guy off. It's something of an Olyphant specialty, and it feels like excellent casting.

FX, Timothy Olyphant saddle up for 'Lawman'

Loved him in Rockstar and Deadwood so I will give this show a chance.
Tim Olyphant + Elmore Leonard ....Yummy
Looks like another great show on FX... it is clearly the best network out there.. I just wish they still had the Shield as well... I look forward to adding this show to my must see TV
I loved him in Deadwood, and I can't wait for this to debut!
This is a BAD sign IMHO. Forget ripping off Deadwood, this smells of FX ripping off "The Shield" wholesale, but (potentially) minus the whole wholesale moral ambiguity that made Shield such compelling television.
he's all alone...so we can wait for the girl and the romance crap.
no, thanks.
